Never Look Away (2019)
Starting in 1930s Germany, ‘Never Look Away’ is a drama-packed portrait of the artist Gerhard Richter. After witnessing Nazi horrors as a boy, as an adult, his fate is intertwined with a former Nazi doctor in this ambitious, compelling film. A classic piece of storytelling told in an old-school film-making style- it’s impossible to look away! Exhilarating.

Faces Places (2017)
Iconic French film director Agnes Varda and photographer JR set off in a photo booth van around rural France, meeting and photographing people along the way.

Everlasting Moments (2008)
Set in early 1900s Sweden, ‘Everlasting Moments’ is a moving story of Maria Larsson winning a camera in a lottery and her subsequent decision to keep it, changing her whole life. This true story follows her path to freedom and independence from an abusive husband.
A ravishing film from master director Jan Troell, this is an elegant tribute to a woman in a male dominated world.

Monday 14th April Seraphine (2008)
Based on the extraordinary life of one of France’s most significant modern artists, Seraphine de Senlis.
As a middle-aged housekeeper in rural 1920s France, Seraphine carries a secret and talented passion for painting, which she regards as religious inspiration.
On becoming ‘discovered’ and successful, her life spirals out of her control and into the realms of madness.
This universally acclaimed, magnificent, and profoundly touching portrait of a troubled woman raises the question of the true emotional and financial value of art to both the artist and the art dealer.

Monday 12th May The Square (2017)
In Ruben Östlund’s satire The Square, the contemporary art world highlights the contradictions of modern society. Set in a fictional Stockholm, the film follows Christian, played by Claes Bang, whose role as chief curator becomes increasingly complex. The narrative revolves around an installation, The Square, symbolizing trust and empathy, while Christian faces absurdities like a viral marketing mishap that underscores the superficiality critiqued by the artwork. Östlund exposes the gap between artistic ideals and social inequality, revealing Christian’s hypocrisy and the blurred lines between altruism and self-interest.
